Terms of Use

These conditions govern every visit, search, and use of Augusta County Criminal History. Continuing to browse means that you accept them. If you disagree with any condition, stop using the website.

NO FCRA USE. Augusta County Criminal History is privately operated and has no government affiliation. Neither it nor its advertising partners offers a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or any other decision regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Its purpose is to help readers locate official criminal-record resources in Augusta County, Virginia. It is not a private investigation firm or consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site, separate from every court and government office. It does not host official criminal records, retrieve files, conduct official checks, or submit documents for a visitor.

Its content identifies the Augusta sheriff, Virginia courts, the VSP Central Criminal Records Exchange, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Public access to government records remains subject to the Virginia Freedom of Information Act and criminal-history dissemination limits in Va. Code § 19.2-389.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use is conditioned on the following restrictions. You will not:

  • Use the website in violation of federal, state, or local law
  • Harass, threaten, stalk, or intimidate anyone with information found here
  • Use content for a credit, employment, housing, or insurance decision
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any system or account
  • Deploy bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools
  • Interfere with performance or another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information reached here or through a linked tool may not be used to threaten, intimidate, stalk, harass, or discriminate against another person. Virginia applies a specific rule to registry data. Under Va. Code § 9.1-918, willful unauthorized use, intimidation, or harassment involving Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry information can be a Class 1 misdemeanor. Registry access supports public safety, not vigilantism or discriminatory action.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Augusta County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. It does not create credit reports, background reports, or consumer reports. Its advertising partners do not provide services through this site for evaluating employment, rental, credit, insurance, or similar eligibility. You will not use data reached here to:

  • Make an employment decision
  • Evaluate a renter or housing applicant
  • Set insurance terms or assess credit
  • Decide eligibility for a permit, license, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated purpose

A regulated check must be obtained through a lawful official process or an FCRA-compliant provider, as the applicable purpose requires.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how an Augusta County charge, warrant, conviction, sealing rule, or expungement law applies to a specific set of facts. Consult a Virginia-licensed attorney for that analysis.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are provided "as is." There is no guarantee that:

  • Outside search results are complete, current, or correctly matched
  • Every page is free from an error, defect, or security flaw
  • Service will remain continuous or uninterrupted
  • Published information is always accurate, current, and complete

Criminal records change when charges are filed, amended, dismissed, sealed, or expunged. Gaps and delays can occur. No statement here is an official statement from an Augusta court, sheriff, or Virginia agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links lead to official agencies, court portals, legal-help organizations, and outside search services. Their availability, prices, privacy choices, and content are controlled by their operators. Review the destination's terms before using it.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, code, graphics, and logos belong to Augusta County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, distributed, changed, or used to create derivative work without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the site's operators are not liable for damages resulting from site use, linked services, or reliance on information found through either.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold the site's operators harmless from a claim, action, or demand arising from your use or breach of these terms, including related legal costs and fees.

11. Governing Law

Virginia law governs these terms. Any dispute tied to site use must be brought in a court located within the Commonwealth of Virginia.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may be changed at any time. A revision becomes effective when the new text is posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or ended at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is found invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions continue in force. The affected language will be adjusted only to the extent needed for enforcement.
